Our story

Latin United North Academy

The road we took, and the community that grew with us.

The LUNA Dance Academy seal

LUNA was born out of a love for dance and for the north.

The road we took

We are Omri and Julia: dancers, performers and instructors. Between us we have decades of experience on the dance floor, on stage and in front of a class.

I, Omri, hold a degree in dance. The north is the home I grew up in, and it was here, at home, that I wanted to bring my greatest passion back to life: dancing.

A community, not just a class

We wanted to build a community again. A loving, supportive environment around Julia and around everyone who comes to dance with us.

The community kept growing, and we grew with it.

The family grew

Over the years, more and more community leaders joined us: people for whom this mission matters as much as it does to us, and who wanted to carry it forward with us.

Michael, a producer, who took the UNO festival upon himself. Reut, who left the big clubs of Tel Aviv for the north and joined the family. Yarin, who took her very first step in our studio, grew, and became an amazing dancer and an excellent instructor.

And more instructors, who completed UNO's training for instructors of the northern communities and joined us in leading.

Meet the team

Not for profit

We do all of this as volunteers, through the Cyber Dance Association. It was a decision we made for ideological reasons: LUNA works without a profit motive, because for us dance is a community first.

The name and the emblem

LUNA is an acronym: Latin United North Academy. A Latin dance academy that brings the north together. Julia chose the seal: a gold crescent moon in place of the U, on night blue.

Come and dance with us

The first lesson of every course is a free trial lesson, and the community parties are open to anyone who wants to come and try. We would love to see you on the dance floor.
